Through the RAP, Ateneo selected Jin Navitas Electric Corporation (JNEC) as its retail electricity supplier. The arrangement now powers three university facilities: the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City, and the Pasig and Salcedo campuses, with renewable energy sourced from NING*NING, the solar rooftop solution of JNEC's affiliated solar power company, SOLARIS.
Present during the ceremonial signing between Ateneo and JNEC were Fr. Roberto “Bobby” Yap, SJ, President of ADMU; Rodolfo Ang, VP for Administration of ADMU; Katerielle Cedeno of the Energy Regulatory Commission; Sergious Angelo Santos, CEO of SolX Technologies; and Jacinto Ng Jr., Group Executive Officer of the Joy~Nostalg Group.
Ateneo leaders emphasized the strategic and mission-aligned nature of the shift.
Ang reaffirmed the university's commitment to achieving zero carbon footprint by 2030. “Our goal was to secure clean energy through the RAP. Partnering with JNEC is a bonus because they are also mission-aligned—they are not just an economic partner, but a partner in mission,” he said, noting the Joy~Nostalg Group's long support for Jesuit initiatives on nation-building and community upliftment.
Fr. Yap highlighted that the move to renewable energy is rooted in Ateneo's Jesuit Catholic identity and its commitment to Laudato Si. “We are grateful to JNEC for being an aligned and supportive partner as we transition all our campuses to renewable energy,” he said.
RAP allows multiple electricity accounts of an institution to be combined so they can qualify for retail competition and open access. This enables large consumers like Ateneo to directly choose their electricity supplier and access more affordable, cleaner, and flexible power options.
